I’ve been friends with Amy for a bazillion years. Her husband Josh and I first met in the industrial design program in college and have been friends ever since. Amy and Josh have been together forever (I think since the first Roosevelt administration. Maybe McKinley. Details are fuzzy) and they are expecting their first child in a couple months. They are some of the most amazing people I know, and will no doubt make excellent parents.
We decided to do this session at Sherman Mills in east falls. It’s definitely not the kind of place you would immediately think of for a maternity session, but I think it worked out really well. It was very cold and windy the day we shot these, but Amy didn’t complain once.
Stay tuned. In a couple months I’ll be posting photos of the actual baby, not just the bump.

This is a special time of year for me. It’s the off season for weddings in this area, the holidays have just passed, we’re in a new year, and I finally have some time to think about and reflect on the previous year’s work.
2008 was a huge year for me. I photographed more weddings than previous years, shot in more unique venues, and most importantly worked with some of the most wonderful people I could imagine. Those wonderful people are why I do what I do. Documenting the most important day of their lives is an honor and a privilege, and I’m eternally grateful for that.
As a follow up to last year’s Best of 2007 slideshow (click here) I’m proud to present the Best of 2008! You can either view it below or click here for a larger version. It’s about 12 minutes long, so grab the popcorn and the tissues and enjoy!
Mary + Mike’s wedding was the last one I photographed in 2008, and I couldn’t think of a better way to end the year! They are a truly special couple, and that showed in every aspect of their wedding – from the wonderful church (St. John the Evangelist) to the fantastic venue (The Racquet Club of Philadelphia) to the astonishingly good vegan food from Jeffery Miller Catering. Everything reflected their unique personalities.
Some of my favorite images are below, and you can check out the slideshow here…

The 2nd to last wedding of 2008 saw my return to Princeton’s beautiful Nassau Inn for Eve + Richard’s wedding. The weather was extremely cold – under 30 degrees with howling winds – but Eve, Richard, and the entire wedding party were total troopers during our shoot on Princeton University’s campus.
My good pal Nicole Polk decided to come shoot the reception with me. We always have a blast working together, and another set of eyes is always a welcome addition.
Here are some of my favorite images:
